Where it all started
.
I have been active most of my life.
It wasn’t until I was in my 30yrs that I found my passion as an endurance athlete completing over 40 long course triathlons as well as 6 ironman races. My training consumed my life. I joined a triathlon club so my outlet of friends was endless. My training rides, runs, and swims with a group of friends were great. We would travel to races throughout the midwest and further for ironman races.
During my off-season and with the help of a cycling coach, I joined a local cycling racing team for a couple of seasons to help with my speed. I also joined a master swim team whose coach pushed the heck out of me every day which I hated but loved the results. It was a great part of my life.
In my late 40-early 50’s after getting injured running, I got into lifting and cross-training. Though that was part of my youth and triathlons, this was more structured and was something different. After talking with my gym friends whom I train with, it was brought up in a conversation about me competing in a 40+ bodybuilding competition. I didn’t even know that they had age categories, much less the stereotype you hear about bodybuilding, I still found it interesting. From there I got with a nutritional coach and trainer and that was it. I was more structured with my lifting, keyed in my diet, which I learned a lot from tracking my foods better to the precise calorie.
Later in 2019 a day before my 54 birthday, I competed in natural bodybuilding competitions (NANBF). This was Real. Standing in front of judges and 100’s of strangers was a bit unsettling but I did it, placing 2nd in Classic Men 40+ and 4th in Mens‘ Physique 40+. Probably something I wouldn’t do again but it was a great experience.
I am always looking to better my knowledge in fitness and nutrition more, to help myself and others to live a healthy lifestyle. I received my Certified Personal Training (CPT) certification which was one of the most exciting things for me and will never forget that day. A lot of studying, a little more difficult to do as one gets older but I did it.
In my downtime, I spend time with my kids. I enjoy anything outside, golfing, fishing, and camping along with trail riding and wherever the road takes me. I have a very supportive family which I love. I’m able to bounce things off of them to see what they think which has been very helpful.
This is something I’ve always wanted to do in my life and I know I can help you.
Who I’m looking to help or my focus is on
.
I focus in the Aging population 50+ that were active when they were younger and want to get back into shape and live a healthier lifestyle.I also work with the semi-retired, retired male/female that wants to feel better and be able to get some stability, flexibility, and strength back to be more mobile.
